In 1996 Graham Thomson, Barry Kingston and Neil Woolacott met and agreed to start a breakfast forum, where men from all denominations could meet freely and openly, and invite others to attend.  The first Breakfast for Blokes (BFB) was held at the Palace Hotel, on 26th February 1997. Since then, the monthly men's breakfast has continued to provide such a service. BFB is usually held on the last Saturday of each month.

This month's BFB is on Saturday 4th September and our guest speaker is Ross Patterson from the Christian Reformed Church.

Raised in a nominal Presbyterian home in Brisbane, he was converted at the age of 16. In his pre-Kalgoorlie life he was involved in the beginnings of the Christian School movement in Australia, was Principal of the Rehoboth Christian School in Perth for 32 years he, after which he was Principal of the Mukinbudin Christian School. His belief and passion to declare Christ as Lord in all areas of life (not only education) led him to be involved in the Christian Democratic Party. In this arena he has stood as a candidate for State and Federal elections.

Ross has served as elder in his church, been involved in the Brookton mission to Aboriginals, edited the national magazine of the Christian school movement, chaired national conventions for youth and Christian education, written articles on various Christian subjects - and generally tried to show in his life his thankfulness for what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for him.

Ross has enjoyed living in Kalgoorlie for the past two years and serving the Lord as the pastor of a "church plant" from the Christian Reformed Churches. He has four adult children and four grandchildren.
